Jarod and I had the pleasure of taking a trip to Mexico in mid July. It was a great trip and unlike most of our vacations had very few set backs. We stayed at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa.

The resort had two hotels. Our room was in this building.

Relaxing after a walk on the beach.

We bought a Mexican blanket from this man. He would walk up and down the beach all day, stopping every once in a while to open up each and every blanket to show it off and then re-fold it and put it in a new stack.

The flea market in town.

Handsome Jarod in a new hat he bought at the flea market.

We were lucky enough to discover a vegetarian restaurant in town. It was a buffet called Planeta Vegetariano and was really good! Eating at the resort wasn't as bad as I expected, but it was nice to have one meal where I didn't have to ask what was in everything!

The resort had evening entertainment which we liked to check out. One of the nights was a casino night. After doing fairly well at roulette we decided to join the black jack table. I won the final round and was able to use my casino money to big on three prizes at the end of the night. I won the prize I wanted; a dress (in photo above) and a free full-body swedish massage. The massage was amazing and I am so glad I won it because the prices at the spa were ridiculous!

We met a lovely couple from Winnipeg who showed us that there were iguana's living in the gardens around the pool!

Part of the main pool and swim-up-bar. This is where we spent most days, as it was too hot to stay out on the deck chairs. As you can see, it was usually full of children. There was an adult-only pool that was beautiful as well, but it started to get really full near the last days of our trip so we came back to this one. I love kids anyway, and we even became friends with an adorable little girl from LA.

Me in the bar drinking a coke on our last night.

We got to participate in the turtle release which was pretty cool. Only the kids got to hold the turtles since there weren't enough for everyone, but I still go to see them and take pictures.

Although we didn't get any photos of it, Jarod and I went on an excursion on Jet Skis. It was two hours long and I rode on the back while he drove. Surprisingly we were the only people who had signed up for it at that time so we had a guide all to ourselves. I know Jarod had an awesome time. At one point the guide let me move over to his jet ski so that Jarod could go jump some big waves. He had a blast. We also took a break to go snorkeling, which I had never done before, but the water wasn't very clear so it was a bit freaky for me to just see dark fish shapes down by my feet :)

Our hotel room. King size bed and the dogs were at home. Pure luxury.

One of the many, many salads I had from the main buffet. Luckily they had all sorts of veggies to put it in it and bottles of oil and vinegar for me to make a vegan dressing. We usually ate at the buffet for most meals, however we also ate at the italian restaurant twice (I would order two salads with no cheese), and the mexican restaurant twice (veggie fajitas). We stayed away from the two other restaurants, one was seafood and one was a steak house. The resort also had free room service so we would take advantage of that each night. Unfortunately the always sprinkled parmesan cheese on the guacamole when I ordered chips and guac, and when you ordered it without they sometimes thought you were asking for extra cheese :)

Overall it was a really great trip. We got to be with each other for an entire week, relax and not stress about work or life, and just enjoy the sunshine.
